Stewardship focus: State of Sustainable Finance NZ event
The Toitū Tahua:Centre for Sustainable Finance inaugural State of Sustainable Finance event on Wednesday 2 November 2022 brought together 140 sustainable finance practitioners, political leaders and public officials for a frank, robust dialogue on the state of sustainable finance as we close out the year, and look at what’s really needed to shift the dial in 2023.
The discussions were a window into how government, regulators and financial institutions are picking up pace, seeking to retain access to capital and international markets, addressing concerns around greenwashing and looking to finance climate adaptation and the transition to Net Zero by 2050.
RIAA CEO Simon O’Connor took the floor to delve into the role of stewardship and the inaugural Aotearoa New Zealand code as critical architecture in building a sustainable financial system.
